TNR for Feral Cats

Community Benefits

Implementing TNR programs greatly benefits the community by reducing the number of stray cats. This leads to fewer cats entering shelters and lowers the chances of euthanasia due to overcrowding.

TNR Benefits for Community

TNR is used to prevent the number of cats that end up in shelters to be euthanized and the abundance of cats roaming the streets in harm's way.  Studies show that 80% of kittens are born to these homeless outdoor cats. With using TNR, cats are less likely to end up on a euthanasia list due to overcrowding at your local shelter. TNR prevents unwanted litters of kittens and saves lives. TNR can reduce mating behaviors in males like fighting and spraying to mark their scent. TNR can reduce the size of cat colonies over time. Cats can become better neighbors by less howling and prowling.

TNR's Impact on Cats

With TNR cats are able to receive the veterinarian care they need and receive preventative services. Cats receive vaccines to prevent rabies and contagious diseases. TNR prevents wandering behaviors to mate that often lead to death in cats. The amount of health risks of constant mating and having kittens is a long list. Spay and neuter improves cat's lives and reduce risk of cancer. Cats that are proven to be adoptable can be fostered until adoptable, lowering the number of cats roaming the dangerous streets.
